NICHI’s Engagement Session and First Annual General Meeting was in Winnipeg April
As a newly incorporated national collective, NICHI founded by long-standing urban Indigenous organizations that provide housing and wrap-around services to Indigenous peoples living in urban, rural and northern communities.
NICHI was founded to respond to the immediate need for Indigenous peoples to self-administer $300 million in funding intended to go to urban, rural, and northern housing. This funding will support the longer-term need for a national urban Indigenous organization that can actively respond to and participate in a federal urban, rural, and northern (URN) strategy development and implementation.
NICHI’s AGM and Engagement Day was held virtually and in-person in Winnipeg on Monday, April 17th from 8:30-4:30 PM CST featuring plenaries, breakout sessions to address this and other issues.
